Bangladesh’s Under-19 side will finally get a chance to play a bilateral series ahead of the upcoming Youth Asia Cup, with Afghanistan set to host a five-match ODI series against the young Tigers.

Bangladesh U19 last featured in the Game Development Trophy in September, where they defeated the Bangladesh U23 side to win the title.

Since then, however, the junior team have not had an opportunity to play a bilateral series. They will now face Afghanistan in a five-match series as part of their preparations for the Youth Asia Cup.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 15-member squad for the series, with Farid Hasan Faisal named captain. He also featured in the most recent youth team.

The first ODI will be played on October 13, with the remaining matches scheduled for October 15, 18, 20 and 23. All five matches between the Bangladesh and Afghanistan U19 sides will be held at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground.

The series will serve as valuable preparation for Bangladesh ahead of the Youth Asia Cup, which will also be held in Oman in November.

The Asia Cup will begin on November 5, with the final scheduled for November 14. Bangladesh have been placed in Group B alongside Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Malaysia.

The tournament will be played in the 50-over format, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals.
