Captain Azizul Hakim Tamim led from the front with a brilliant century, guiding his team to a two-wicket win in the final match at the Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi.
Afghanistan, batting first after winning the toss, posted 208 for 8 in their allotted 50 overs. In reply, Bangladesh reached the target in 45.5 overs despite losing wickets at regular intervals.
The chase did not begin well for Bangladesh, as Shahriar Ahmed fell early for 3. Kalam Siddiqi Allen, batting at No. 3, also could not extend his start and scored 15 off 25 balls.
At 41 for 2, captain Tamim and Rizan steadied the innings, adding 44 for the third wicket before Rizan departed for 27. Abdullah fell soon after, leaving the side struggling before reaching triple figures.
Tamim then built a crucial 54-run partnership with Farid Hasan to put Bangladesh back on track. But with quick dismissals of Farid (23), Debashish Deba, and Samiun Bashir, the match tightened once again.
Holding one end, Tamim continued to anchor the chase. He brought up his century off 118 deliveries and was dismissed shortly after with Bangladesh just two runs away from victory. New batter Swadhin sealed the win with a boundary first ball.
Earlier, Afghanistan’s Osman Sadat top-scored with 68, supported by Mahbub Khan’s 40, helping the visitors post a competitive total. Bashir was the standout bowler for Bangladesh, claiming two wickets.
