Nepal Cricket Association president Chatur Bahadur Chand recently confirmed the proposal to Cricfrenzy, while BCB cricket operations chief Shahriar Nafees also confirmed that the board is considering it positively.
Bangladesh and Nepal have never played a bilateral series as the two sides have met only twice in international cricket, both in T20 World Cups.
Bangladesh won their first meeting by eight wickets in Chattogram in the 2014 edition, before securing a 21-run victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies.
“Nepal Cricket Board sent us a proposal some time ago expressing their interest in playing a bilateral series with Bangladesh, and the Bangladesh Cricket Board has also viewed the proposal quite positively,” Nafees said.
Bangladesh’s schedule is already packed ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup, which will be held in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia in October-November.
However, the BCB is exploring whether a window can be found outside the existing Future Tours Programme to accommodate a series against Nepal.
“Discussions are ongoing between the Bangladesh Cricket Board and the Nepal Cricket Association. We know our FTP is quite packed, but we are still trying to find a suitable window within this cycle,” Nafees said.
“If everything falls into place, hopefully the series can take place.”
