Geo News reported that an official announcement could be made within the next few days.
Pakistan are scheduled to tour Bangladesh in May for a two-match Test series, and Sarfaraz is expected to begin his tenure with that assignment. Samaa TV added that the decision has been taken to strengthen the red-ball side by handing him the top coaching role.
The position of Pakistan’s Test head coach has remained vacant for the past few months. Azhar Mahmood served as interim head coach during last October’s home Test series against South Africa but later stepped down following a mutual agreement.
As part of the ICC World Test Championship, Pakistan will play two Tests in Bangladesh in May. The first Test is scheduled to begin on May 8, followed by the second on May 16.
Prior to that, the two sides will meet in a three-match ODI series in Dhaka in March.
