Rangpur Riders held their nerve to edge past Dhaka Capitals by five runs in a tense Bangladesh Premier League clash at Sylhet on Saturday night.

Batting first, Rangpur posted a competitive 155 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs. Mahmudullah anchored the innings with a composed 51 off 41 balls, striking seven fours, while Khushdil Shah provided the late surge with an unbeaten 38 off just 21 deliveries.

Dawid Malan also chipped in with a steady 33 as Rangpur recovered from early setbacks to finish strongly.

In reply, Dhaka Capitals fell short despite a valiant unbeaten half-century from skipper Mohammad Mithun, who scored 56 off 38 balls.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz gave Dhaka a brisk start with 31, but Rangpur’s bowlers kept striking at crucial moments to prevent momentum from building.

The decisive moment came in the final over, bowled by Mustafizur Rahman. With Dhaka needing six runs off the last ball, Mustafizur dismissed Shamim Hossain earlier in the over and expertly defended the remaining deliveries to restrict Dhaka to 150 for 4 in 20 overs.

Mustafizur finished with figures of 1 for 23, while Kyle Mayers and Al Islam also picked up key wickets as Rangpur registered a hard-fought victory to boost their campaign.
