National team opener Shadman Islam has finally put behind the disappointment of going unsold in the players’ draft, as Chattogram Royals have signed him.

The franchise brought in the experienced batter primarily to strengthen their top order.

Shadman last featured in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) in 2020. Although he has previously represented Dhaka Dynamites, Chattogram Challengers, and Rangpur Rangers, he spent the intervening years on the sidelines of the tournament.

Despite his absence from the BPL, Shadman continued to deliver consistent performances in domestic cricket. He was in outstanding form in the National Cricket League (NCL) T20, scoring 192 runs in six matches at a strike rate of 151.18, including a century.

Alongside Shadman, Chattogram Royals have also bolstered their overseas contingent by signing three Pakistan players.

The franchise has reached agreements with Asif Ali, Aamer Jamal, and Hasan Nawaz. Among them, Asif Ali and Aamer Jamal have prior experience of playing in the BPL, while Hasan Nawaz will be making his debut in the tournament.
