Bangladesh Cricket Board President Tamim Iqbal has taken charge only last week, but signs of change are already visible across the country’s cricket landscape.

Since assuming office, Tamim has shown an active approach through a series of decisions, the effects of which are already being felt both on and off the field.

Continuing that momentum, the Tamim-led board has taken a unique initiative to honor former national team captains.

A special event titled “Captains’ Card Distribution Ceremony” is set to take place this Thursday (April 16) evening at a luxury hotel in the capital.

The event, organized under Tamim’s direct supervision, will bring together captains from different eras of Bangladesh cricket under one roof, where they will be officially handed their “Captains’ Cards.”

The plan is to include every player who has led Bangladesh in at least one international match under this program. Through this initiative, the board aims to ensure special privileges and benefits for former captains.

In addition, discussions are underway to introduce a separate “Health Card” for former captains aged over 50, which would help provide medical support.

Meanwhile, the government has also taken steps to improve the country’s struggling sports sector. To ensure financial security for athletes, a “Sports Card” program has been introduced.
