Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana Joty has received an official reprimand for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the third T20I against Sri Lanka Women's team in Sylhet on Saturday.

According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), Nigar was found guilty of violating Article 2.2, which relates to the “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match.”

The incident occurred during Bangladesh’s innings when, after being dismissed, the wicketkeeper-batter threw her bat onto the ground in frustration before leaving the field.

As a result, one demerit point has been added to her disciplinary record. It is her first offence within 24 months.

Nigar admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Supriya Rani Das, eliminating the need for a formal hearing.

The charge was brought forward by on-field umpires Eloise Sheridan and Shathira Jakir Jesy, along with third umpire Rokeya Sultana and fourth umpire Champa Chakma.

Level 1 breaches carry penalties ranging from an official reprimand to a fine of up to 50 percent of a player’s match fee, along with one or two demerit points.
