England Women secured a hard-fought four-wicket victory over Bangladesh Women in their ICC Women’s World Cup clash, chasing down a tricky target of 179 with 23 balls to spare.

After being sent in to bat, Bangladesh posted a competitive 178 all out in 49.4 overs, courtesy of a composed 60 off 108 balls from Sobhana Mostary and a late flourish from Rabeya Khan, who smashed an unbeaten 43 off just 27 deliveries to propel the total past 170.

England’s spin attack dominated the innings, with Sophie Ecclestone (3/24) and Charlie Dean (2/28) applying the brakes effectively, while Alice Capsey chipped in with 2/31.

In reply, England faced early trouble as Marufa Akter struck twice in her fiery opening spell, removing both Amy Jones (1) and Tammy Beaumont (13) to leave the visitors reeling at 29 for 2.

But Heather Knight stood tall with a match-winning knock, anchoring the chase with an unbeaten 79 off 111 balls, supported by Charlie Dean’s gritty 27 not out. Their 79-run unbroken partnership guided England home in the 47th over.

Bangladesh’s bowlers showed admirable fight, especially Fahima Khatun, who delivered a superb spell of 3 for 16 in 10 overs, troubling England’s middle order. However, Knight’s experience and composure under pressure proved decisive in the end.
