Bangladesh’s young pace sensation Marufa Akter has taken the cricketing world by storm.

A fiery inswinger that bowled Pakistan’s opener Sidra Ameen in the Women’s ODI World Cup has not only gone viral on social media but also drawn praise from legends of the game, including Sri Lanka’s fast-bowling great Lasith Malinga.

That delivery has captivated fans and earned applause from cricketing greats.

Among them, none bigger than Malinga himself. On his official Facebook page, the former fast-bowling maestro praised Marufa, writing: “Pure skill. Excellent control. Best delivery of the tournament so far.”

In reply, Marufa humbly responded: “Thank you, legend.”

After Bangladesh’s win over Pakistan, Marufa herself explained her plan: “I know I get swing, so I try to keep my line and length right. Jyoti apa (captain Nigar Sultana Jyoti) told me to stick to that plan. I don’t feel pressure. Even if I concede a boundary, my teammates always support me.”
