Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain David Warner opted to bat first against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Abu Dhabi on Saturday (September 26). However, he has defended his decision of batting first.

However, SRH could only put up a total of 142-4 in their 20 overs as the batters failed to step up in the middle overs. However, Warner backed the team including their death bowling which is one of their strengths as well.

"I think I got my decision right. For us, our strength is death bowling. I thought it was actually a difficult wicket to accelerate on. I don't regret what I did at the beginning of the game and I stick by my decision," Warner said in the post-match presentation ceremony.

While chasing, KKR successfully chased down the total within 18 overs thanks on the back of a stable half-century from the talented youngster Shubman Gill. However, Warner applauded his Australia teammate Pat Cummins who registered the bowling figures of 1 for 19 in 4 overs after his poor show against Mumbai Indians.

"Cummins bowled Test match line and length. There was a little bit of movement to begin with and it got harder in the middle. We went four or five overs for 20 probably killed us a bit there. An extra 30 or 40 runs would have been great. We have to go harder at the top. But we can't help if the bowlers are bowling right lines and lengths," he concluded.

The IPL 2020 has started on September 19 and the 53-day tournament will conclude on November 10.
