Ben Stokes in doubt ahead of upcoming ODIs
Ben Stokes’ unavailability due to a hamstring problem earned Sam Curran a Test debut for England in their second Test against Pakistan today (June 1). Stokes is now in doubt for England’s upcoming ODIs as his scan report has revealed a tear in his left hamstring.
Sam Curran, who made his international debut by playing for the ICC World XI against West Indies yesterday, got his national call-up after Stokes suffered a tight hamstring during fielding practice on Wednesday.
Stokes is expected to have another scan next week. The injury appears to be a major one and could see the all-rounder sidelined for a couple of weeks.
England’s next limited-overs assignment will start with a one-off ODI against Scotland on June 10, which will be followed a five-match ODI home-series against Australia.
The men led by Joe Root were handed a nine-wicket defeat by Pakistan in first Test of a two-match series at Lord’s and will be eying to pick up a win against the visitors in the second Test at Headingley to salvage their pride. The English team hasn't been able to register a single win in the last eight Tests they have played.
