After getting thrashed by 5-0 in the ODI series, Bangladesh have been handed another whitewash by South Africa in the three-match T20I series.

The rain-marred match was reduced to 9 overs for each side and started with the hosts being sent to bat first at Bloemfontein. Tamin Brits’ 29-run knock powered the South African team to register a total of 64 for 4.

Salma Khatun picked up two wickets and Khadija Tul Kubra also got a wicket to her name as it was now the batters’ turn to bring some change in the visitors’ fortune. But Bangladesh started miserably as Shabnim Ismail bowled a maiden over. Bangladesh then kept losing wickets in regular intervals and ended their innings on 41/6.

Ayabonga Khaka was the pick of South Africa’s bowlers as she bagged a total of three wickets in the game. Marizanne Kapp also joined the hunt by scalping two wickets while Raisibe Ntozakhe scalped one.

Only Shamima Sultana and Fahima Khatun were able to enter the double-digit score as they made 12 and 10 runs respectively, but that wasn’t enough for the sub-continental side to avoid another disgraceful whitewash.

Special congratulations are due to the new caps who have settled in very nicely. This is a good sign of the ever-growing depth in our women's national squad.”
