Shakib Al Hasan’s farewell Test against South Africa had been highly anticipated, but due to protests, the star all-rounder could not return home. Subsequently, Bangladesh played a Test against the West Indies and an ODI series without him.

This has cast doubts over Shakib’s participation in the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

Chittagong Kings’ owner, Sameer Quader Chowdhury, addressed the media on Friday, sharing updates about Shakib. “Even, I am tired of answering these questions. We haven’t received any official confirmation yet, so we remain hopeful he will join and play. I recently spoke to Shakib and asked about some recent reports. He said none of them are true and denied making any such statements,” Chowdhury stated.

While the franchise has been in touch with Shakib, he has yet to provide a clear answer regarding his participation. Chowdhury added, “He hasn’t confirmed anything about coming. We can’t say it’s positive either. It all depends on the situation. Since he’s currently unavailable for the national team, he hasn’t given us a definitive response yet.”
The Kings are closely monitoring the situation as they prepare for potential alternatives in case Shakib remains unavailable for the tournament.
