Sediqullah Atal scored 95 unbeaten as Afghanistan Abdalyan beat Bangladesh 'A' by four wickets in Oman's ongoing Emerging Asia Cup.
A solid batting performance by Tawhid Hridoy and Shamim Hossain Patwary helped Bangladesh team post a competitive total of 164 for 4.
After losing the toss, Bangladesh 'A' was sent into bat and suffered an early setback when Bilal Sami bowled opener Jishan Alam for just 4 runs. However, a steady 56-run partnership between Parvez Hossain Emon and Saif Hassan for the second wicket provided a solid foundation for a big score.
Emon led the charge, scoring a brisk 54 off 32 balls, before being caught at long-off by Sharafuddin Ashraf off Kais Ahmed’s bowling. Shortly after, Saif followed, departing for 16 off 19 deliveries.
Captain Akbar Ali was dismissed for just 4 runs, trapped LBW, but Hridoy and Shamim then put together an unbeaten 70-run stand for the fifth wicket.
Their partnership pushed Bangladesh 'A' past the 150-mark, with Shamim scoring 38 off 24 balls and Hridoy contributing 42 off 31, both remaining not out till the end.
In reply, the Abdalyan lineup lost wickets on regular intervals but Sediqullah (95*) kept one end very tight and continued scoring runs all around the inning to take Afghan over the winning line in the last over with 4 wickets in hand.
Sediqullah Atal was awarded as the Player of the Match for his stellar batting performance and won the award for the 2nd successive time in the event.
