Dhaka’s new franchise Dhaka Capitals have signed former England opener Alex Hales as a foreign player on Thursday, confirmed by a reliable source from the franchise to Cricfrenzy.
For the upcoming season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Dhaka's franchise has been acquired by actor mega star Shakib Khan’s company, Remark Harlan.
The franchise has made an early statement by securing Bangladesh star pacer Mustafizur Rahman through a direct contract.
Hales is no stranger to the BPL, having previously played for Rangpur Riders and Khulna Tigers across two seasons. The franchise is also in talks with several other foreign players.
Among the new signings, Johnson Charles has been officially confirmed by the team via their official Facebook page on Thursday. More player announcements are expected soon.
There are also reports that former South African captain Faf du Plessis could appear in a few matches wearing Dhaka's jersey for the upcoming season.
In addition, the franchise is in discussions to appoint a former Australian cricketer as their mentor, with names like Mike Hussey, David Hussey, and Michael Clarke being considered. However, no final decision has been made yet.
On the local front, the team is in talks with emerging talent Tanzid Hasan Tamim.
