In IPL 2025, players are set to see a boost in their earnings as the BCCI has introduced a match fee of INR 7.5 lakh (approximately US$ 9000) per game. Aside from their contract values, players will also be compensated for each appearance throughout the season.
BCCI secretary Jay Shah announced this on X, formerly Twitter, stating that each franchise will set aside INR 12.60 crore (around US$ 1 million) specifically for match fees during the season.
“In a historic move to celebrate consistency and champion outstanding performances in the #IPL, we are thrilled to introduce a match fee of INR 7.5 lakhs per game for our cricketers! A cricketer playing all league matches in a season will get Rs. 1.05 crores in addition to his contracted amount.
Each franchise will allocate INR 12.60 crores as match fees for the season! This is a new era for the #IPL and our players!” Jay wrote on X.
This match fee allocation is separate from the franchises' auction budget.
To break down the INR 12.60 crore: the 12 players listed on the team sheet will receive this additional incentive as match fees, which amounts to INR 90 lakhs per game.
Over 14 league matches, this totals INR 12.60 crore for the entire season.
