Bangladesh ace-allrounder Shakib al Hasan to play for Los Angeles Waves and Tamim Iqbal has joined Texas Gladiators in the fast-paced Sixty Strikes format of the National Cricket League (NCL).
Tamim and Shakib are the only Bangladeshi players who were picked from the draft of inaugural edition of the tournament, which was held on September 10.
After a long hiatus, the duo will compete in the same tournament for the first time since the last edition of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
Meanwhile, this event will also mark the most-anticipated return of the dashing opener Tamim, who has been on a break from cricket since the ODI World Cup, last year.
Apart from Shakib and Tamim, the upcoming league will feature star-studded lineup of renowned cricketers including Shahid Afridi, Suresh Raina, Dinesh Karthik, Andre Russell, Robin Uthappa, Keshav Maharaj, Tabraiz Shamsi, Chris Lynn, Martin Guptill, and Angelo Mathews.
The Sixty Strikes format is a shortened and faster-paced variation of traditional cricket, which will played for around 90 minutes like the Abu Dhabi T-10, and Zim Afro tournament.
The six franchise teams are New York Lions CC, Dallas CC, Texas Gladiators CC, Chicago Cricket Club, Atlanta Kings CC, and the Los Angeles Waves CC.
The tournament will be played from October 4 to 14 at UT Dallas.
