Papon to step down as BCB president

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon has decided to step down from his position, as reported by a reliable source from the cricket board.
Papon fled the country after the downfall of the Awami League government abruptly. According to several sources, he is currently in London with his wife.
Papon has been the board president for over a decade, but after the fall of the Awami League government, he decided to leave the post after a meeting with active BCB directors.
He became the president of BCB in 2012 and has held this position since then. He has been elected three times and is currently serving his fourth term at BCB. However, he is now stepping down from the role of BCB president.
Papon's resignation would negatively affect BCB and Bangladesh's hosting of the Women's T20 World Cup in October. The ICC is expected to make a final decision on August 20 regarding the tournament's venue.
