Bangladesh A in trouble after day one against Shaheens
|| CF DESK ||
On the first day of the four-day match between Bangladesh A and Pakistan Shaheens at the Islamabad Club Ground, reckless batting by Bangladesh A left them in a precarious position.
Opting to bat first, the visitors were bundled out for a mere 122 runs, thanks to stellar performances by Pakistan's pace duo, Nasim Shah and Mir Hamza, who claimed three wickets each.
Mahmudul Hasan Joy was the only Bangladesh A batter to show any resistance, scoring 65 off 194 balls, including nine boundaries. However, senior players Mushfiqur Rahim and Mominul Haque, who were using this match to prepare for the upcoming Test series against Pakistan, managed just 14 and 11 runs, respectively.
Rejaur Rahman Raja was the only other batter to reach double digits with a score of 10.
The start of play was delayed by three hours due to rain, allowing only 46 overs on Day 1.
Mir Hamza struck first, clean bowling opener Zakir Hasan for a duck, while Nasim Shah quickly followed by dismissing both Mominul and Mushfiqur, leaving Bangladesh A reeling at 53 for three.
Despite Joy's valiant effort, Bangladesh A continued to lose wickets at regular intervals, collapsing for a modest total. Before bad light forced an early end to the day's play, Pakistan Shaheens reached two without loss in two overs.
