Bangladesh pacer Shoriful Islam was optimistic and boasted confidence for the upcoming Test series against Pakistan, starting on August 21.
The men’s team has already reached Lahore and will hold a three-day practice session before departing for Islamabad where the first match will be played. Shoriful, who featured for Bangla Tigers in GT20 Canada, returned to the country on Sunday and will join the Test squad tomorrow.
Shoriful has been away from red-ball cricket for a long time, the bowler trained at the Sher e Bangla National Cricket Stadium before leaving for Pakistan series.
"We are going to play Pakistan Tests, despite the ongoing situation of the country. Insha'Allah, we will try to do something great and bring victory for the country," Shoriful told the media at the SBNCS.
"Team practised with the red ball after a long time. I have joined late, it will be a little difficult. However, I will try, there is still plenty of time. I want to keep my fitness right and bowl. If everything is fine by the will of Allah, I think I will be able to go tomorrow," he said.
Shoriful stated that he was well-prepared for the pace-friendly wickets in Rawalpindi. He also mentioned that the team is aware of the batting-friendly conditions expected on the pitch.
"I have seen matches played in Rawalpindi before, the wickets are somewhat batting-friendly. We also have good batsmen, the game will be competitive. We will also try to give a tough fight,” he added.
