Asif Mahmud appointed as Minister of Youth and Sports

Key Anti-Discrimination Student movement leader and interim government advisor Asif Mahmud has been appointed as the Minister of Youth and Sports.


The 25-year-old will replace former president of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Nazmul Hasan Papon, who was responsible for the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Asif along with Nahid are the youngest members ever to be sworn in as advisors to an interim government in Bangladesh.


After the ceremony, Asif spoke to the media on Thursday and said the new interim government is a combination of experience and youth.


Before Asif, Papon, Nitai Roy Chowdhury, Mohammad Yusuf Ali, Shamsul Huda Chowdhury, Zakir Khan Chowdhury, ABM Ruhul Amin Howladar and Sunil Kumar Gupta have served as full ministers of this ministry.
