Former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal expressed disappointment in Bangladesh's performance against Afghanistan in the last match of Super-8, stating that they should have tried to chase the runs to secure a spot in the semis.

Tamim praised Litton Das for his unbeaten 54 against the Afghans and emphasised the missed opportunity for Bangladesh to do something special in the T20 World Cup.

The veteran pointed out the Tigers’ lack of intent in batting and stated it as a contributing factor to their difficulty in the match.

“Bangladesh came to bat with a clear idea. Litton did well. He usually plays well against Afghanistan because he can read Rashid (Khan) well. He has a good record. I think Bangladesh team was very disappointed. Bangladesh should have tried to chase the runs (to go into the semis). Even if they were all out by 70-80 runs. They had a chance to do something special," said Tamim to Cricinfo.

"These opportunities don't come around often. When you haven't won a match in the Super Eight and then get a chance to win the last match to reach the semi-finals, you should try to do everything possible. Low intent in batting during some overs has made the work difficult," he added.
