Shakib Al Hasan made history by becoming the first player to claim fifty wickets in T20 World Cup history. This milestone was achieved when the Bangladesh all-rounder dismissed India's captain, Rohit Sharma, during their Super Eight match at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on Saturday.

Although Shakib's first over, the second of the innings, went for 15 runs, he bounced back in his next over to get Rohit out for 23 runs off 11 balls. Rohit was deceived by Shakib's change of pace, leading to a catch at mid-off.

After going wicketless in his first four matches of the current tournament, Shakib took two consecutive wickets to secure victory for Bangladesh in their final group-stage match against Nepal in St. Vincent on Monday.

Shakib, along with India's Rohit, is one of the only players to have participated in every edition of the T20 World Cup since its inception in 2007.

He is now just one wicket away from becoming the second player, after Tim Southee (164), to reach 150 wickets in T20Is.

If he achieves this, the 37-year-old will be the first player to take 150 wickets and score 2500 runs in T20 internationals.
