Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib al Hasan was "proud and delighted" to feature in the ninth edition of the T20 World Cup, he also expressed his hope to participate in the next tournament as well.
Shakib and India's captain Rohit Sharma are the only two players to appear in all the World Cups of the shortest format since the inaugural edition in 2007.
"I've taken part in all the World Cups starting from the first one. For me, it is a matter of pride and pleasure. I am always happy to represent the country," said Shakib in BCB's Green Red Story.
"I, along with Rohit Sharma, played all the T20 World Cups. I hope to play another World Cup. Before that, I want the performance to be great in this tournament," he said.
Shakib hopes Bangladesh will receive strong support during the T20 World Cup, where they will play two matches in both the USA and the Caribbean. He also stated that he is concentrating on team-oriented objectives rather than individual achievements.
"A lot of Bangladeshi fans are waiting. I hope we will get full support from them. I believe the support will work in our favour in this World Cup. I don't want to see anything next to my name. I just want to contribute to the team and do well in the World Cup for Bangladesh," he added.
