India captain Rohit Sharma stated he is not thinking about his retirement now and determined to play 50-over World Cup and next year's World Test Championship (WTC).
Rohit mentioned India's ODI World Cup 2023 loss to Australia in the final. Despite being unbeaten throughout the tournament, India suffered a surprising defeat against Pat Cummins' team, once again returning empty-handed from an ICC event.
"I am playing well at the moment and I am thinking of continuing for a few more years. I really want to win that World Cup. The 50-over World Cup is the actual World Cup. We have grown up watching the 50-over World Cup," Rohit said in a YouTube chat show – Breakfast With Champions.
"50-over World Cup for me is the actual World Cup. We've grown up watching that World Cup. More importantly, it was happening in India in front of our home crowd. We played so well up until that final. When we won the semi-finals, I thought, now we're just a step away. We're doing all the things right," he said.
The 36-year-old was hopeful to win the WTC final which will be played at Lord's next year.
"There is the World Test Championship final happening at Lord's in 2025. Hopefully, we will make it there,"
