Former Pakistan fast bowler Azhar Mahmood has been appointed as the head coach of the Pakistan men’s cricket team for the forthcoming five-match T20I series against New Zealand. Scheduled to take place in Rawalpindi and Lahore from April 18th to 27th.
This isn't Mahmood's first stint with the Pakistan team; he previously served as the bowling coach from 2016 to 2019, where his contributions were instrumental in shaping the team's bowling attack.
In addition to Mahmood, the coaching lineup sees notable appointments. Wahab Riaz, a seasoned campaigner himself, assumes the role of senior team manager. Mohammad Yousuf will serve as the batting coach.
Saeed Ajmal, who was the bowling coach on the last tours of Australia and New Zealand, will continue as the spin bowling coach.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan cricket team for the New Zealand series will be announced on Tuesday, 9 April.
