Mominul Haque etched his name into Bangladesh cricket history, becoming only the fourth Bangladeshi player to surpass the remarkable milestone of 4000 runs in Test cricket.
His determined innings of 33 runs during Bangladesh's challenging batting display on Day 3 of the Chattogram Test against Sri Lanka showcased his resilience.
Requiring just 25 runs to achieve the coveted 4000-run mark, Mominul reached this milestone in the 63rd over of the Bangladesh innings with a composed pair of runs off pacer Vishwa Fernando.
In joining the respected company of Mushfiqur Rahim, Tamim Iqbal, and Shakib Al Hasan in the exclusive 4000s club, Mominul affirmed his place among Bangladesh's cricketing elite.
This accomplishment underscores his significance and contribution to the national team's success over the years. Impressively, Mominul accomplished this feat in 113 innings, reflecting his consistency and prowess on the international stage.
However, Mominul's innings was cut short when he fell victim to a well-executed LBW dismissal by Asitha Fernando. Despite his efforts, Bangladesh found themselves bundled out for a modest 178 runs, in response to Sri Lanka's commanding total of 531.
