PCB terminates Haris Rauf's central contract

Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf's central contract has been terminated by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) following an investigation into his refusal to join the national Test squad for the Australia tour.
The decision came after a thorough probe, during which Rauf was granted a personal hearing. Despite this opportunity, Rauf's response was deemed unsatisfactory.
Effective from December 1, 2023, Rauf's central contract stands terminated, and he has been barred from obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to participate in any foreign leagues until June 30, 2024. This decision underscores the seriousness with which the PCB regards player commitments and national team duty.
Pakistan's tour of Australia, comprising three Tests in December-January 2023, saw the team face a tough challenge and ultimately succumb to a 3-0 whitewash.
Although Rauf did not participate in the Test series, opting instead to play in the Big Bash League in Australia, he returned for the subsequent T20I series against New Zealand. Despite his efforts, Pakistan faced defeat in the five-match series, losing 4-1.
