Razzak clarifies Miraz's exclusion from T20I squad

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) selector Abdur Razzak explained why all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz was left out of the T20I squad for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka.
According to Razzak, the selectors decided to keep Shak Mahedi, as he is the ‘T20I specialist’, instead of Miraz because having two off-spinners on the team would not be ideal for the team combination.
"It is a bit difficult to keep two off-spinners in the T20 team at the moment. Shak Mahedi is bowling well. Mahedi is our T20 specialist. That is why Miraz is not in the squad," stated Razzak.
Miraz was part of the T20I squad against New Zealand but did not feature in any game of the three-match series. Though, he has been a regular pick in the ODI format.
On the other hand, Mahmudullah Riyad, who is not currently in the T20 central contract, has been included in the T20 team. According to Razzak, Mahmudullah's current form played a big role in his selection.
"There is no correlation between the central contract and getting a chance in team. Looking at the previous year, the central contract was made. So last year Riyad did not play T20 that much. Now Riyad is playing well, so he has been included. Even after that, if he plays well, he will be considered for the World Cup" he added.
