Pakistan batter Babar Azam stated that Rangpur Riders are not feeling any additional pressure without Shakib al Hasan's contribution with the bat and he expects the all-rounder to return in full form in the upcoming matches.
Shakib has been struggling with an eye issue since the ODI World Cup, he had flown to London before the commencement of BPL and later went to Singapore for specialized treatment after the Dhaka phase.
There were speculations that Shakib might opt out of BPL due to his eye problem, but the all-rounder appeared in two more matches for Rangpur Riders. However, he batted lower in the order against Khulna and was spotted struggling to focus on the ball.
Shakib did not bat in the match against Durdanto Dhaka even when Rangpur had lost eight wickets in the match, however, they clinched the commanding 52-run win against Comilla.
Babar was hopeful for Shakib to return with a full-fledged preparation and play a good knock in the upcoming matches.
“I don't think we are facing extra pressure without Shakib’s batting. He is fit and he had a practice session before the match because he could not take adequate preparation before the tournament. He came early and had a good batting session. Today he did not get the opportunity to bat but we are looking forward to the next matches and seeing Shakib play good innings,” said Babar.
