Chattogram Challengers beat Durdanto Dhaka by six wickets in their Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) match in Mirpur on Monday.
Chattogram lost two early wickets in their chase of 137 runs as Avishka Fernando and Imranuzzaman were dismissed by Shoriful Islam.
Young Tanzid Hasan missed his fifty but played a solid 49-run innings and was accompanied well by Shahadat Hossain (22 off 31).
Chattogram were well on their course to win the match easily until Tanzid departed for 49 becoming Taskin's only victim. The match seemed tense when Usman Qadir conceded only one run in the 17th over leaving Chattogram needing 22 from the last three overs.
But Najibullah wasn't to take any more time and began onslaught hitting two sixes in the 18th over. His 32 off 19 sealed the deal for Chattogram and put them top of the table.
Earlier, Durdanto Dhaka's Sri Lankan opener Danushka Gunathilaka left the field injured after getting struck with the ball early on in the innings. Dhaka sent in another Sri Lankan Lasith Croospulle as his concussion substitute.
However, this substitution has led to controversy as Croospulle was not part of the 15-man squad Dhaka had submitted for the match.
Mohmmad Naim departed after scoring eight runs and nine runs came from Saif Hasan's bat, who came to bat at number three.
Skipper Mosaddek Hossain lost his wicket for naught, while Australian Alex Ross scored only 11 runs.
Irfan Sukkur and Croospulle then led the team by forming a partnership in the sixth wicket.
Dhaka crossed the hundred mark with the help of their 78 runs. The pair broke when Croospulle departed after a flying 46 runs. His 31-ball innings was decorated with 3 fours and 2 sixes.
Irfan also could not last long. He returned to pavilion after scoring 27 runs off 26 balls. In the end, Taskin Ahmed's 8-ball 15-run innings gave Dhaka a fighting total.
Al Amin Hossain and Bilal Khan got two wickets each for Chattogram. Captain Shubhagata Hom, Nihad Uzzaman and Curtis Camper took one wicket each.
