Ctg thrash Sylhet by seven wickets in BPL

Chattogram Challengers displayed an impressive batting performance as Shahadat Hossain Dipu and Najibullah Zadran both notched up half-centuries, propelling their team to a convincing seven-wicket victory against last season's finalists Sylhet Strikers in the opening day of the Bangladesh Premier League at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Friday.


In pursuit of a target of 178, Dipu showcased his batting prowess with four sixes and an equal number of fours, accumulating an unbeaten 57 off just 39 balls.


Zadran complemented the innings with five towering sixes and three boundaries, contributing an unbeaten 61 off 30 balls.

The duo formed a formidable partnership of 121 runs, steering their team to a well-deserved triumph after Avishka Fernando provided a brisk start with his 23-ball 39.


Earlier, Zakir Hasan scored a half century by coming down to bat at number three to guied Sylhet to 177. He scored fifty off 31 balls with 5 fours and 1 six.


In the power play Mohammad Mithun and Nazmul Hossain Shanto scored 67 runs in a strong opening partnership. Shanto was the victim of Nihaduzzaman for 36 runs off 30 balls with 7 fours.


Mithun missed out his half century as he lost his wicket to Curtis Campher for 40 off 28 balls with four fours and two sixes.


Then Zakir and Harry Tector finished the innings with an unbroken partnership of 82 runs. Zakir was unbeaten on 70 runs off 43 balls with 7 fours and 1 six, Tector was not on 26 runs.
