|| CF DESK ||
The highly anticipated 10th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is poised to commence tomorrow, featuring national players gearing up for the T20 World Cup scheduled in the USA and West Indies in June.
This tournament is recognized as the country's most competitive cricket event and serves as a crucial preparation platform for the upcoming global competition.
The inaugural clash will unfold between defending champions Comilla Victorians and the debutant Durdanto Dhaka at 2:30 pm.
The Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium will be the venue for both this exciting encounter and the later match between Sylhet Strikers and Chattogram Challengers, set to begin at 7:30 pm.
The upcoming matches will follow a different schedule than the opening day. On weekdays, the initial match will commence at 1:30 PM, while the second match is scheduled for 6:30 PM. On Fridays, the first match is set to kick off at 2 PM, with the second game starting at 7 PM.
The tournament features seven teams competing for the BPL crown: Comilla Victorians, Rangpur Riders, Durdanto Dhaka, Khulna Tigers, Fortune Barishal, Chattogram Challengers, and Sylhet Strikers.
A total of 46 matches will be held over 43 days, with venues spanning the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka, the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, and the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet across three cities.
Unlike the previous tournaments, the BCB is determined to transform the upcoming edition into a run-fest. Recent statements from several BCB directors indicate their commitment to preparing pitches, especially the historically slow and low Mirpur pitch, in a manner that fosters high-scoring matches.
To enhance the commentary experience, the organizers have enlisted the renowned Pakistani commentator Ramiz Raja.
The former PCB chairman will share the commentary box with his compatriot Aamir Sohail, West Indies cricket legend Curtley Ambrose, Sri Lankan cricketer Russel Arnold, and South African HD Ackerman. Local commentators will also play a significant role alongside them.
In a notable addition, the Decision Review System (DRS) will be in action right from the commencement of the tournament, as confirmed by the officials.
The lowest price of a BPL match ticket is Tk. 200 while the highest price is set at Tk. 2500. The Eastern stand ticket can be purchased at Tk. 200, North/South Stand at Tk. 400, Club House at Tk. 800, VIP Stand at Tk. 1500 and Grand Stand at Tk. 2500.
T Sports and Gazi Television will telecast the whole BPL live from the stadium.
