Cricketers from various countries eagerly await the opportunity to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL), however, despite getting the chance three times, Bangladeshi pacer Taskin Ahmed has been denied a No Objection Certificate (NOC) by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for national duty and health concerns.

Taskin confirmed to Cricfrenzy that Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders, where Australia pacer Mitchell Starc became the most expensive buy in the history of IPL with INR 24.75 crore, approached him to know about his availability.

The right-arm pacer is gearing up for the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) in Mirpur but expressed his disappointment on Tuesday about missing out the most popular franchise league in India.

"Actually, the opportunity came three times (in the IPL) and missed the opportunity this time too. It feels a bit disheartening because every player wishes to participate in all franchise leagues. Offers come from different leagues, not just IPL." Taskin said to the media.

Despite the board's concerns about the players' health ahead of the T20 World Cup in June, Taskin has discussed the matter with the board.

"The board actually does not want to give permission for various reasons. There are series, there are health issues. I have spoken to the board this time too, they said they will think about it. But definitely don't like to miss such franchises. Everyone wants to play, me too. I hope the same will happen again in the future.”

Currently sidelined due to injury, Taskin has been away from the field for a considerable period. If everything goes well, he aims to make a comeback with the BPL.

Mustafizur Rahman has entered in the Chennai Super Kings in this year’s IPL at a base price of INR two crore. Taskin and Shoriful Islam pulled themselves out of the IPL before the last moment of the auction.
