Bangladesh opening batter Anamul Haque Bijoy was disappointed for not being able to convert his innings big in the first ODI against New Zealand.

The right-arm batter rued for missing the opportunity to convert his innings big and help the side chase the 240-run target.

“Actually, the top-order batsmen who become set in the field can play long innings, and score big in any format. It is a big advantage for the team. When a top-order batsman bats 35-40 overs. Our top order needs to take charge. Today I was set, but I could not make it big. regretting it. If I get another chance, I will try to make it bigger,” said Bijoy in the post-match conference.

Bijoy backed his teammate, stating they would perform well individually on different occasions.

“It will be different in different occasions. Sometimes, Soumya will be set, sometimes Litton or Shanto. If they can make it bigger whenever they can, the scenario will change. Afif is playing well, Hridoy is playing well. The fewer overs we give them, the better for the team,” he added.
