BCB to take national selection committee decision amidst BPL

The term of the current Bangladesh national selection committee is about to end this month (December 31st), however, the decision about the current committee is currently postponed due to the national elections. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon said that the decision will be made after the election and it could be made during the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
Minhajul Abedin Nannu has been in the selection committee of the national team for almost an era since the 2011 World Cup. In April 2016, after the resignation of the then Chief Selector Faruk Ahmed, Nannu took charge of the Chief.
The former captain is in charge since then, and his current committee is formed with another former captain Habibul Bashar and former spinner and Abdur Razzak.
The board has not yet taken any decision on the future of the selection committee as BCB president is busy with his election campaign. Therefore, the tenure of the current committee is automatically increased for some days.
Speaking to the media after the Victory Day exhibition match at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Saturday, the BCB president said that he is unable to hold any board meeting due to the busyness of the national elections.
"Our concerns about the selection committee... I can't come back to Dhaka before (January) 8. I am leaving (for Kishoreganj). Once the polls are over and after the results I’ll come back. Then we will take a decision by holding a board meeting. As soon as possible... I will take it in 2-3 days if possible, amidst BPL.”
He also informed the media that if the current committee is removed, it will be part of the normal process. There is no requirement to be a former cricketer to be a member of the new selection committee.
“There is no specific criteria really. The selection panel is subject to change. It is a normal process. This committee has been around for a long time. Change is always good. But to exclude someone by blaming, by falsely slandering - it would set a very bad example,” he added.
