Hasan credits coach Donald and bowling unit after maiden fifer

Bangladesh fast bowler Hasan Mahmud has heaped praise on his bowling coach Allan Donald after claiming his first-ever five-wicket haul in international cricket.

The 23-year-old claimed his maiden five-wicket haul as the Tiger pacers bowled Ireland for just 101 in 28.1 overs at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Thursday.

Hasan finished with 5-32 while Taskin Ahmed and Ebadot Hossain took three and two wickets respectively making a historic moment for Bangladesh as the pacers managed to take all ten wickets.

Speaking to reporters after the match, Hasan credited his success to the hard work and guidance provided by Donald.

"The last few years, we have been working hard. We have a good connection with Allan Donald. He shared his experience and how he survived in cricket… how to handle situations and back yourself. His skill is unbelievable. He works really hard," Hasan said.

Hasan also revealed that healthy competition within the pace bowling group had played a part in his success.

"We [pacers] all want to give our best and everyone wants to beat each other. Taskin bhai is a senior and always protects us. He plays up our good aspects and tells us to avoid the bad things," he said.

Reflecting on his first five-wicket haul in international cricket, Hasan expressed his delight for achieving his first fifer of his career.

"It is my first five-wicket haul. I haven't gotten a five-wicket haul before in domestic games either," he added.
