Bangladesh spin-bowling coach Rangana Herath stated that despite the setback in England series the Tigers are now gearing up for the upcoming Ireland and Afghanistan series before the ODI World Cup.
Bangladesh lost to England after seven consecutive ODI series win at home. Bangladesh won 12 of their last 15 ODIs, but England are the only visitors to have won an ODI series in Bangladesh since 2015. The Tigers trumped superpowers like Australia, India and New Zealand throughout this period.
Herath believes Bangladesh has a lot to do before the World Cup, and they are determined to finish their preparations with the Ireland and Afghanistan series.
“Even after losing two matches against England, there is still a lot to do. After this series, Ireland and Afghanistan series are very important for us. We want to prepare well before the World Cup," said Herath.
Herath also conveyed that his side is looking to bounce back in the third and last match of the series by figuring out the space for improvement. Following the ODI series, Bangladesh will square off to three-match T20I series against the World Champions.
"We didn't want to lose the series at home. But we have a chance to make a comeback in the third match. Credit goes to England. Malan's century in the first match and Roy's century in the second gave England the lead. We need to understand where we need to improve and that's our challenge," he added.
