Players' union calls for reform of 'chaotic' global cricket calendar
27 Mar 25Rangpur Riders captain Nurul Hasan Sohan has praised veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik for reaching the milestone of completing 500 T20 matches of his career.
Sohan believes that Malik's achievement is a huge accomplishment and is a source of inspiration for many players, including his own team.
The wicket-keeper batter highlighted the fact that many players in the team were not even born when Malik made his debut in T20 cricket, which adds to the significance of his 500-match landmark.

“Playing 500 T20 matches is a huge thing. I think there are many players in our team who were not even born when Shoaib bhai made his debut. Of course it's good for us to share the dressing room with a legend like him. Everyone got a chance to learn from him,” said Sohan.
Malik won’t be available with the team during the playoffs of BPL as he will leave for PSL. Despite his absence during the playoffs, Sohan remained optimistic about the team's chances and has a backup plan in place to ensure that they are well equipped to face any challenges.
“If he is not available in the playoffs, we have a backup plan. I believe it is possible for any oversea cricketer to come and tackle the situation,” he added.
Malik has had a long and illustrious career in T20 cricket, spanning over two decades and making him one of the most experienced players in the format. He has played for about 26 teams in T20 leagues all over the world.
