Rangpur Riders defeated Sylhet Strikers by six wickets in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, on Friday.


Rony Talukdar starred with the bat as he guided Rangpur Riders to an easy win against Sylhet Strikers with six wickets and 26 balls in hand. 


Rony played a cautious knock of 41 off 38 balls with two 4's and an equal number of sixes as Mohammad Nawaz hit 18 and Mohammad Naim played brief innings of 18 runs.

Mashrafe Mortaza picked up two wickets for Sylhet while Mohammad Amir and Rajaur Rahman Raja took one wicket each. 


Earlier, Sylhet were crushed on 92-9 in 20 overs while batting first on a sporting wicket at Sylhet. Azmatullah Omarzai and Hasan Mahmud shared six wickets together to destroy Sylhet's batting order as they were slumped to 18-7 at one point of the game.


Then, Mashrafe and Tanzim Hasan Sakib stitched a 48-run partnership for the eighth wicket stand that anchored the side to cross the 50-run mark. 


Sakib scored 41 off 36 deliveries, hitting five boundaries and two sixes and captain Mashrafe returned on 21 runs as eventually, Sylhet managed to set 93 runs as target.
