BCB to fully cooperate with Anti-Corruption Commission, confirms president Faruque

Russell Domingo has stepped down as Bangladesh's head coach, confirmed by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Wednesday.

Domingo resigned just two days after Bangladesh lost the two-match Test series 2-0 against India at home, following a 2-1 triumph in the ODI series.

Following the India series, Domingo returned to his home in South Africa for the Christmas break, but a statement from BCB cricket operations chairman Jalal Yunus indicated that the BCB was moving on from Domingo.

"Russell (Domingo) has resigned. He informed us in an e-mail last night. He did not provide us a specific reason. He thanked the board and wished Bangladesh cricket well,” 

BCB's cricket operation committee chairman Jalal Yunus said that the Bangladesh team will get a new head coach before the next series.

"We are looking for a coach. We will finalize everything before the England series, hopefully by next month," he said.

Former Bangladesh coach Chandika Hathurusingha's name has emerged as the possible next coach. The head of cricket management, however, did not confirm it, but did not rule it out either.

"We are talking to many. We don't want to mention names. The board president himself has spoken to a few. But we are not mentioning names before finalization,” he added.

In August, Domingo was stripped of his role as T20I coach and told to focus on ODI and Test cricket. Sridharan Sriram coached Bangladesh at the T20 Asia Cup and T20 World Cup.

Domingo was appointed for the role back in September 2019 after the BCB parted ways with Steve Rhodes following the Tigers' eighth-place finish in the first round of the ODI World Cup in England.

Under Domingo's reign, Bangladesh had won T20I series against Australia and New Zealand in 2021. The Tigers recorded a historic Test victory, against New Zealand at Mount Maunganui in January this year.
