South Africa batter Farhaan Behardien has announced his retirement from international cricket on Tuesday after serving his nation for 18 years.
The Proteas batter took to Twitter to announce his retirement from cricket. However, he didn’t make it clear if he would continue to play certain formats.
“The dust has settled a bit. Been pretty emotional the last couple of weeks. 18 years has come and gone. 560 pro games across all formats, including 97 caps for my country, 17 trophies in the cabinet and blessed to have played in 4 World Cups,” the note read.

“Thanks to my family and friends who gave unwavering support. Thanks to all the coaches and support staff I’ve come across in my career, all of my teammates, boy I’ve played with some of my heroes and some of the greats!
He played international cricket for South Africa National Cricket Team from 2012 to 2018. He made his ODI debut in 2013 against New Zealand and his T20I debut against India in 2012.
His last ODI appearance came in 2018 against India and he last played T20I cricket in 2018 against Australia. However, Behardien has been regular in the domestic circuit for Boland till earlier this month, with his last appearance coming on December 23 against Western Province.
