Iyer, Kishan win back India contracts as Pant's deal upgraded

Kolkata Knight Riders purchased Bangladesh wicket-keeper batter Litton Das and all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan during the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction in Kochi on Friday ahead of the 2023 season.

After initially going unsold, both Shakib and Litton were picked by Kolkata for base prices of Rs 50 Lakh and 1.5 crores, respectively. In addition, Kolkata was the sole bidder for Litton and Shakib.

The franchises were not interested in bidding for Taskin Ahmed, who had a starting price of INR 50 lakh.

Among the 405 cricketers, four Bangladeshi players were named in the IPL auction. Afif Hossain, who was also drafted at a base price of 50 lakh rupees, did not go under the hammer.

Bangladesh premier bowler Mustafizur Rahman has already retained by his franchise Delhi Capital in november.

However, The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has earlier informed the franchises about the availability of the players for the 2023 IPL and it turned out Bangladesh players could only take part for a limited time of the tournament because of some international series.

England all-rounder Sam Curran became the most expensive IPL player ever when Punjab Kings paid INR 18.50 crore for him.

Following in the footsteps of Australian Cameron Green, who was sold to the Mumbai Indians for Rs 17.5 crore, the Chennai Super Kings landed Ben Stokes for Rs 16.25 crore.

Nicholas Pooran was also expensive, with Lucknow paying Rs 16 crore for him after a bidding war with Delhi Capitals.

The Auction Details 

SET 1 -

Sunrisers Hyderabad got Enagland player Harry Brook for INR 13.25 Crore and Mayank Agarwal for 8.25 Crore.

Kane Williamson, at a base price of INR 2 Crore. Gujarat Titans bagged the New Zealander at his base price.

India and Mumbai batter Ajinkya Rahane has listed his base price at 50 lakh. Chennai Super Kings made the first move for Rahane and sold to CSK for his base price.

England batter Joe Root and South Africa batter Rilee Rossouw remained unsold after first round.

SET 2-

Bangladesh Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was at 1.5 crore but no team showed interest in their first call as he reamained unsold. 

England all-rounder Sam Curran has fetched the highest-ever bid at an IPL auction as he was grabbed by Punjab Kings for 18.5 crore.

West Indian Odean Smith has sold for 50 lakh to Gujrat Titans.

Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikandar Raza, who was recently in action at the LPL and T10 league roped in by PBKS at his base price 50 lakh. This is Raza’s first time IPL edition.

Rajasthan Royals grabbed Jason Holder 5.75 crore.

Mumbai Indians got Australian all-rounder Cameron Green for 17.5 crore, while CSK snatched Ben Stokes for 16.25 crore, who is the expensive player ever for CSK, surpassing Deepak Chahar.

SET 3-

At 50 lakh base price, Bangladesh wicket-keeper Litton Das has remained unsold for IPL 2023.

West Indian Nicholas Pooran got 16 crore from Lucknow Super Giants,

Henrich Klaasen, sold to SRH for 5.25 crore, who scored a 292 in SA’s first-class competition last month.

Delhi Capitals grabbed Phil Salt for INR 2 crore.

SET 4-

England’s tall left-arm quick and yorker specialist Reece Topley went to Royal Challengers Bangalore for 1.90 crore.

LSG bagged Jaydev Unadkat for 50lakh at his base price, while Australia’s Jhye Richardson to Mumbai Indians 1.50 crore.

Ishant Sharma went to home at Delhi with 50 lakh.

SET 5-

England star legspinner Adil Rashid to SRH for 2 crore and Mayank Markande for 50 lakh.

Mujeeb ur Rahman, Tabraiz Shamsi, Adam Zampa and Akeal Hosein got no bid for their name as they remained unsold.
