Bangladesh came up with an improved performance at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup but they still fell short as they made an exit from the tournament after their loss to Pakistan in their final Super 12 encounter.
What went right?
Bangladesh didn't enjoy the best of times ahead of the tournament. They lost all matches in the tri-series against Pakistan and New Zealand, which was played just before the beginning of the T20 World Cup, and their overall performance didn't inspire any confidence at all. But the bowlers stepped up big time once the tournament arrived.
Although the Tigers couldn't really muster big totals with the bat, their bowlers delivered some superb performances and even helped them to register thrilling wins against Netherlands and Zimbabwe. Bangladesh ended the tournament with four points from six matches and the bowlers played a big role in even helping them gain that.

The batting and lack of big game experience didn't work out well for Bangladesh. Apart from Shakib Al Hasan, Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman, this was mostly a young and inexperienced side playing at this mega event.
The batters couldn't really adapt to the conditions over the course of the tournament. Barring a couple of good knocks from Litton Das and Najmul Hossain Shanto, there wasn't much to talk about. The failure of Shakib to make significant contributions with the bat didn't help Bangladesh's cause either.
What does the future hold?
The Tigers have a lot of talent and potential but, as evident from their performance in this World Cup, the players have a lot to improve upon when it comes to batting in this format. However, the learnings and lessons from this tournament will serve the young players well.
The next ICC event is the 50-over World Cup in India next year. The Tigers will be eager to deliver a much better performance there. The young guns will also become much more seasoned players by then, making them much more capable of handling tough situations.
