27 Mar 25Fortune Barishal have retained Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan for the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) in January 2023.
Shakib played a crucial role in the previous edition where his team finished as the runner-up after losing to Comilla Victorians by one run in the final.
Earlier, Barishal announced West Indies power-hitters Chris Gayle and Rahkeem Cornwall are set to ply their trade in the upcoming edition and they have also bagged Afghanistan's Najibullah Zadran.

Gayle played for Barishal in the previous edition of the championship, where he was the second-highest run-scorer for his team.

The left-handed batter scored 241 runs from 10 matches at an average of 26.77 and a strike-rate of 112.61 with one half-century and a top score of an unbeaten 52.
Cornwall, on the other hand, recently played for the Barbados Royals in the 2022 edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). The right-hander also hit a double century of late to give an account of his credentials in the shorter format of the game. Cornwall is also more than handy as an off-spin bowler.
The 43-day-long BPL will get underway on January 5 next year with the grand finale scheduled for February 16.
