Daren Sammy has been reappointed as Peshawar Zalmi's head coach, succeeding James Foster, who led the team during the PSL 2022 season.
Sammy has been a mainstay for the organization since the PSL's start in 2016, and is one of the league's more recognizable overseas faces.

He started as vice-captain and took over as captain after Shahid Afridi resigned in 2017.

He was an important member of the club as a player until 2020, when he was replaced as full-time captain by Wahab Riaz in a mid-season shuffle. Sammy then served as the team's head coach for two years in 2020 and 2021.
Zalmi won the championship in 2017 and finished second in 2018, 2019, and 2021. In the Eliminator in 2022, they were defeated by Islamabad United.
Following a meeting of the PSL governing council in September, the PCB announced that the 2023 season of the PSL will begin on February 9, with the final on March 19.
