Despite losing the first Asia Cup game against Afghanistan on Tuesday, Bangladesh's Test and T20I captain Shakib Al Hasan climbed up in the rankings.
Shakib advanced eight places up to 19 in the current ICC T20I bowling rankings, which were released on Wednesday. He has 591 rating points.

Shakib failed to make an impact with the bat in his team's seven-wicket loss to Afghanistan in Sharjah on Tuesday. He was out following a nine-ball 11-run knock.

The all-rounder, on the other hand, was the most outstanding with the ball in hand.
The astute left-arm spinner conceded only 13 runs in four overs and claimed the key wicket of Rahmanullah Gurbaz. More crucially, Shakib gave up up to 12 dots while without conceding a single boundary during his time.
Meanwhile, Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan, who claimed three wickets against Bangladesh, jumped two spots to third (708 points) in the T20I bowling rankings, over fellow leg-spinners Adil Rashid and Adam Zampa.
