Alok Kapali announced his retirement from first-class cricket as the new season approaches. He hanged his boots on a day when he made history in Tests for Bangladesh.
On August 29, 2003, against Pakistan in Peshawar, he set the precedent of the first hat-trick for Bangladesh in the Test.
He announced his retirement in a Facebook post on Monday. He reached the milestone of 9000 runs last season.

In a Facebook post, Alok said that his decision was to give opportunities to youngsters and for family reasons.
This Sylhet cricketer announced his retirement from first-class cricket but will continue to play limited format cricket.
“I think now more opportunities should be given to young cricketers to play first-class cricket. I have decided to retire from first-class cricket to allow young cricketers to rise to the highest level and to devote more time to my family. I will only participate in limited overs cricket from the 2022/23 season.”
Alok made his first-class debut in 2001. He made it to the national team the following year. Played 17 Tests. Scored 584 runs in two half-centuries, while he took 6 wickets.
He has bagged 9 thousand 138 runs in 172 matches with 227 wickets. Apart from 20 centuries, there are 37 half-centuries in his career.
