The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is set to appoint former India all-rounder Sridharan Sriram as head coach for the Bangladesh Men’s team ahead of the Asia Cup.


The development was confirmed by a BCB director to the Daily Star on Friday.


BCB President Nazmul Hasan Papon hinted there would be a drastic change in the team and wants to bring changes to their mindset and approach in the Asia Cup.

"We've made a big decision. We've decided to bring drastic changes to our approach and mindset from the Asia Cup onwards. We want to see if we can start afresh or not," said Papon on Thursday.


Sriram worked as an assistant coach of the Australia cricket team for six years since 2016 and has also been involved in the coaching staff of Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League (IPL).


Sriram, who played eight ODIs for India between 2000-2004 had a distinguished first class career spanning nearly 18 years.
